      CLIENT: SogeMi is the joint-stock company that, on behalf of the Municipality of Milan, manages all the wholesale agri-food markets of the city. He deals with the administration of the spaces and services connected to them on an area of ​​about 6,800 square meters, in which 8,000 people work, representing companies that buy or sell their goods.

      SFIDA: Data retention and protection are a subject of particular relevance for SogeMi. The company, in fact, does not limit itself to renting space for the wholesale purchase of agri-food products, but controls its correct functioning, managing relationships with about 220 customers and supervising the traffic of vehicles and people entering and leaving.

      The IT structure manages several critical applications for access control (vehicles and people), for the collection of parking fees, for the administration of real estate assets and for issuing the daily price bulletin. Over the years, the volume of data generated daily has become increasingly large, causing the company to need:

      • an automated and centralized solution for managing the backup on a hard disk;
      • a replica on the company's secondary site, to guarantee first-level disaster recovery.
      SOLUTION: Once the requirements were identified and a quick analysis of the offer on the market was carried out, SogeMi opted for the installation of a pair of Fujitsu Eternus CS800 systems in the company's two locations, a few hundred meters away and connected by fiber optics: "From a technical point of view, the choice derives from the possibility of having two appliances, with a capacity of 8 TB each, capable of automating the entire bailout process - comments Guido Gandino, Head of Information Systems and Telecommunications at SogeMi -.

      In addition, the strength of the brand, the reliability of the products and the price / performance ratio, as well as the ongoing support of Fujitsu's Select Expert Partner, Soteha, have also contributed in a fundamental way, which proved essential for the speed of implementation.       BENEFITS: The use of the new solution has made it possible to reduce the use of resources dedicated to backup by over 50%, previously performed largely manually. At the moment, the volume of data subjected to regular daily backup process corresponds to a total of about 4 TB and comes from the eight servers in the SogeMi data center. Fujitsu systems are concerned with compressing data so you can always complete the save at night.
